Terri Perrin Biography
Terri Perrin is a full-time freelance writer with a special interest in animals and the human/companion animal bond. In her 20+ years as a member of the Professional Writers’ Association of Canada she has published more than 2,000 articles in various Canadian magazines and newspapers and is currently working on her first book.
Perrin has been presented with the CKC Writer of the Year award three times, earned a coveted Maxwell Award from the Dog Writers’ Association of America and been honoured with recognition awards by the Calgary Humane Society and the Alberta SPCA. She was also the co-founder of Calgary’s Pet Loss Support Group – the first group of its kind in Canada.
In addition to her work as a writer, Perrin has been employed as the public relations and education officer for the Calgary Humane Society, on contract with The City of Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services for 12 years, served six years on the Discipline Committee of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association, spent two years as an officer manager at a veterinary hospital, and shared her heart and home with companion animals since she was a child.
Perrin also three years experience as a market research analyst and copywriter at The Calgary Herald – experience that serves her well when working with statistics from the IPSOS Reid Urban Animal Survey.
“I welcome opportunities to assist non-profit groups and municipalities that have sent representatives to the BSUAS, as well as any media outlet that has an interest in the event, with any writing projects,” says Perrin. “As an advocate of responsible companion animal ownership, it is important to me that the information presented at this conference be shared with the general public. I firmly believe that the only way we can work towards changing attitudes is by working together.”
